Sylvester and Elizabeth (Selbach) Lukefahr
Elizabeth was born on September 15, 1862, in XXX Indiana to parents John and Catherine Selbach. Sylvester was born on December 31, 1860, in Perryville, Missouri to parents Anthony (Anton) and Elizabeth (Asgot) Lukefahr. They were married on April 21, 1881, at St. Libory, Nebraska.
Sylvester left Perry County, Missouri, and joined a group of people going west. He homesteaded land near Grand Island, Nebraska, naming the town St. Libory.....
Shortly after..Marie... was born in 1905, Elizabeth developed turberculosis.... In the summer of 1907, he [Sylvester] shipped mules, wagons and farm equipment by boxcar and moved his family to the Bay City area....
Sylvester was one of the county's early rice farmers...obtaining the needed water from a canal north of the Missouri-Pacific tracks, which was extended under the tracks to the Lukefahr farm.
Elizabeth passed away on January 4, 1910, in Bay City, Texas. She is buried in St. Libory Catholic Cemetery, St. Libory, Nebraska.
Sylvester remarried in 1912, to Susan Callahan McElwee in Greeley, Nebraska. Sylvester died on July 4, 1940, in Greeley, Nebraska, and is also buired at St. Libory Catholic Cemetery. .
