The family remained close, as evidenced by the continuing family get-togethers that continue to this day.

Edgar Louis Lukefahr and Elsie Agnes Waugh

Elsie Waugh was born on September 22, 1895, in Brayton, Nebraska, to parents Vernon Edward and Mary Ann (Carey) Waugh.  Edgar Lukefahr was born August 25, 1896, in Wheeler County, Nebraska, to parents Sylvester and Elizabeth (Selbach) Lukefahr.

Edgar's family moved from Nebraska to Matagorda County, Texas, in 1910 to purchase farmland, although they were back in Nebraska for the 1920 Census.  Edgar served in WWI as a Private in the Marine Corps.

Elsie and Egdar married on February 12, 1923, at Sacred Heart Church in Greeley.  Over the next 15 years, Edgar and Elsie had 8 children.  In 19XX, the family relocated from their farm outside Greeley to Bay City, Texas.  The family loaded their belongings into their car and a cousin's truck and made the journey south.  It was suggested that some of the older brothers accompany the truck, but Elsie declared, "This family stays together,"  and all 10 family members piled into the family's car, some sitting on others' laps. [For first-hand accounts of this trip, read the stories on the Family Stories page.]

Edgar and Elsie continued to live in Bay City, Texas, raising their large family with a strong work ethic and an equally strong sense of humor.
